Find Bent County Traffic Tickets

Bent County traffic tickets are handled in one of two ways. Some are payable state penalty assessments, while others must be answered in the court named on the citation. Start any Bent County traffic ticket lookup by reading the issuing line, the response instructions, and the printed appearance date. The trial-court clerk keeps the court-filed traffic records. A docket search helps confirm a setting, and the named court can fill in details when a citation is missing, has aged past the state payment window, or calls for an appearance rather than payment.

Bent County Traffic Court Records

Bent County Court hears state traffic cases under its limited jurisdiction. The Clerk of Court at Bent Combined Court keeps the file. That courthouse operation also serves Bent District Court. The court record can show the citation or charge, the plea, hearings, orders, payment-related entries, and the disposition. The paper ticket alone is not the same thing.

A city-ordinance citation goes down the municipal channel printed on the ticket instead. The City of Las Animas posts no separate municipal court page or citation portal. So the issuing-agency and court lines on your copy matter more than ever. A state-law summons filed in Bent County Court belongs with the Bent clerk. A true municipal citation follows the city instructions on the ticket. The Department of Revenue will not take it.

Bent County Traffic T-Class Calendar

The Bent-filtered Colorado Judicial Docket Search is the official free tool for settings. Pick Bent. Set your date. Choose case class T when you know the traffic case number. Colorado builds that number from a four-digit year, class letters, and a numeric sequence. You can also search by individual name when the case number is unavailable.

Each result lists the date, duration, time, name or caption, case number, hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom. Remember, it is a calendar result, not the full citation file. Several rows can mean several settings. Match the case number and hearing details. Then confirm anything doubtful or changed with Bent Combined Court.

Looking Up a Traffic Ticket

Begin with the ticket itself. It names the issuing agency, the alleged violation, the instructions, and either a payment deadline or an appearance date. Not every citation goes to the same office. The paper decides whether your first stop is the Department of Revenue, Bent County Court, or a municipal route.

  1. Read the court, agency, date, and response lines before entering any payment site.
  2. For a court-filed Bent ticket, search the Judicial Branch docket by Bent County, date, and the T-class case number or name.
  3. For an eligible state penalty assessment still within its payment period, follow the Department of Revenue instructions on the citation.
  4. If the record is absent, call Bent Combined Court at 719-456-1353 or visit the clerk counter at 725 Bent Avenue in Las Animas.
  5. Give the clerk the citation number, issue date, issuing agency, and cited name, and ask which office has custody.

The counter welcomes visitors Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:30 p.m., with a lunch closure in between. The clerk can sort out where a case sits and what the calendar shows. To order a ticket or ROA, use the online Record/Document Request Form.

Bent County Traffic Citation Paths

A payable penalty assessment and a court summons are two different roads. The Colorado Department of Revenue ticket rules let you pay an eligible assessment to DOR. Do it within its stated window. Paying on time counts as an admission. To fight it, you must appear in court on the date printed on the ticket.

The official DOR page lays out that decision point.

The state process takes neither summonses nor municipal citations. Once a Bent traffic ticket is filed in court, the current court notice and the Bent clerk control your response. Parking and photo-radar tickets also fall outside the DOR penalty-assessment channel.

How to Find Your Traffic Court Date

The printed date on the citation is your first reference. If the setting changes, the current docket entry and court order control. Search Bent County. Match the T-class case number. Then check the hearing type, location, appearance type, and courtroom. When a printout and a later notice conflict, call the clerk. Asking for a continuance is not getting one until the court signs an order.

Case numberYear, class T, and sequence, such as 2019-T-999999.
Date and timeThe current scheduled setting, subject to a later court order.
Hearing typeThe event label, such as first hearing, advisement, or pretrial conference.
LocationThe courthouse associated with the setting.
Appearance typeIn person, virtual, or another value shown by the live result.
CourtroomThe room or division assigned to that setting.

Posted courthouse dockets and public terminals are the fallbacks when remote search fails. A virtual-room listing alone does not permit remote appearance. Use the case-specific appearance entry, or get confirmation from the division.

Bent Traffic Ticket Payment Window

Colorado allows 20 days from the violation date to pay an eligible DOR penalty assessment. Pay or postmark within that period to avoid referral. The amount is printed on the citation. Timely payment counts as an admission and carries the point reduction DOR describes.

That rule does not make every Bent County traffic ticket a DOR payment. A summons, municipal citation, or court-filed matter follows the named court's instructions instead. Read the ticket before choosing a channel. If the language is unclear, call the listed office or Bent Combined Court. The deadline is still open then.

Note: The payment window applies to eligible DOR penalty assessments. It does not cover every citation issued within Bent County.

Pay or Contest a Ticket

Paying and contesting are not interchangeable choices. Paying an eligible penalty assessment is an admission handled by DOR. Contesting means appearing in the specified court. A ticket already filed with Bent County Court must go through the court or its linked payment route. That route runs under the current notice. Bent County offers no standardized deferred-disposition or defensive-driving option, so do not assume you qualify.

Missed response or appearance: A failure-to-appear event may trigger added court process or a warrant when authorized. Contact the named court promptly and rely on the current order.

Bent County posts no failure-to-appear fee or license-hold schedule of its own. Treat the printed docket and current Colorado rules as the measure, and never import another state's program or assume a consequence the Bent case record does not show.

Older Bent County Traffic Tickets

A state penalty-assessment ticket that is more than 40 days old changes hands. DOR treats it as referred and can no longer take your payment. From that point the job is to find which court received the filing. Call the Bent Combined Court clerk with the ticket details. Do this if it landed in Bent County Court. Ask for the current case number and the status. Also ask for the next setting and the right way to respond.

Resist the urge to mail a late payment to DOR. The old paper still shows a dollar amount, but that means nothing now. Later process may sit in the court file that the original ticket never mentions. A municipal ticket follows its own court's instructions, not the county or state payment path.

Bent County Traffic Appearance Terms

A setting label names the event on the court calendar. It says nothing about the outcome of the Bent traffic case. "First Hearing" is simply the first event carrying that label in the docket. "Hearing on Advisement" deals with rights or status advice. A "PreTrial Conference" is different. It covers readiness, possible resolution, and issues that come before trial. "Appearance on Bond" means you must appear. Release conditions stay in force.

Continuance or reset
A court-ordered move from the old setting to a new date.
Motion hearing
A setting for argument or evidence on a request for a ruling.
Disposition
The recorded way the charge or case ended.

Never read an appearance label as a result. A guilty finding, a dismissal, or a final disposition comes later, through the chronological ROA and the signed orders it contains.

Traffic Court Record vs Driving Record

Two offices keep two different records. Bent Combined Court holds the court case once the citation is filed there. That docket shows the charge, the plea, the settings, the orders, and the disposition. Separately, the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles keeps the driving record and receives conviction information under motor-vehicle law. Want a copy of the ticket or the ROA? Ask the clerk, not the DMV. The licensing agency handles only its own record request.

Federal court tools sit in a separate system. The official PACER fee announcement sets terms for federal electronic records only, and it has no bearing on a Bent traffic citation.

The federal notice drives home a simple rule. Use the court named on the citation, because PACER cannot locate or resolve a traffic matter filed in Bent County Court.

Lost Bent County Traffic Ticket

Lost a state penalty-assessment ticket? Colorado DOR publishes 303-205-5610 for exactly that problem. The line can help you identify the state assessment path. Has the ticket been filed in Bent County Court? Bent Combined Court is then the more direct source for the current case. Have the cited name, the approximate issue date, the issuing agency, and any citation digits you remember. Ask whether the matter is still with DOR. It may have become a Bent County Court case, or it may sit in a municipal channel.

Then try the free docket search by name with a tight date range. An empty result does not mean the ticket vanished. For a driver under 18, the penalty assessment uses form DR 2334 with a witnessed or notarized parental signature. Follow the current DOR form and citation instructions rather than swapping in an adult payment route.

Copies and Fees

The dollar figure on a ticket is not a copy fee. Copies of the Bent County traffic case file come through the Judicial Branch form or the Bent clerk. Name the ticket, the ROA, or the disposition. Plain copies are priced by the page. Certification adds the clerk's authentication to whichever document you specify.

For the court-filed case, call the Clerk of Court at Bent Combined Court, 725 Bent Avenue, Las Animas, Colorado 81054. The number is 719-456-1353. Confirm mail or fax delivery and payment details before you send anything.

Bent County Traffic Portal Gap

The City of Las Animas offers no citation search or pay portal. There is no clerk page, judge page, or calendar. That gap is no excuse for an unofficial payment site. Read the court and issuing-agency lines on the citation first. DOR will not accept a true municipal citation.

Holding a state-law ticket? Search the Bent county=6 docket and call Bent Combined Court. A city-ordinance matter follows the instructions the city or municipal channel prints. Confirm custody before paying. When the issuing line is unclear, calling both the cited office and the Bent clerk is the safest route.

No standalone portal was verified: The official fallback is the citation itself, the named city or court, and Bent Combined Court for state County Court matters.
